Some Tips To Help You Get Rid Of Mold And Mildew

Having mold and mildew in your bathroom and kitchen tiles is an unattractive sight to behold. Even if you clean it everyday, it would still look dirty. More importantly, black mold is considered to be a toxic substance, which can really harm highly vulnerable people, like children and the elderly. If you want a home that is clean and safe, you most certainly need to know how to get rid of mold and mildew, and make sure that they do not come back.

Mold and mildew typically grow in cold, damp and dark places. If you notice, mold and mildew most commonly develop in your bathroom, because this is the part of the house that is always in contact with water. In order to remove mold and mildew, the first thing you must do is to scrape them off with a scraping tool. Try to scrape as much as you can. I would like to emphasize that you need to be extremely cautious when scraping off the mold. It is a good idea to wear protective gloves and face mask when  you are doing mold and mildew removal.

After scraping off as much mold as you can, spray the mold infested areas with a bleach solution. Bleach is an effective mildew remover which is also not very expensive. To be more effective, spray your bleach solution onto your grout and tiles, and let the bleach stay for fifteen to twenty minutes. This will give your bleach solution ample time to loosen up the strong hold of the mold in your grout and tile. The next step is to scrub the grout and tile with a cleaning brush, preferably a hard-bristled brush that will do the job well. You will notice that the stains will easily come off. When you are done scrubbing, rinse the bathroom thoroughly with water, and allow it to dry completely.

But what is the use of mildew and mold removal if they will only come back? There are a few simple things you can do to prevent them from coming back. One tip is to spray your shower tiles with vinegar 15 to 20 minutes before you take your daily shower. Vinegar is a sanitizing agent that will prevent mold and mildew from returning. Another tip is to let some light in. If you have windows in your shower, you can open the windows to allow air and sunlight to dry out your bathroom. You can also leave the lights on a few minutes after taking your shower. Whatever you do, the key is to keep your bathroom as dry as possible, to keep mold and mildew from coming back.

If you want a clean germ free home then mildew and mold remediation is something that you will defiantly want to look into.
