Once considered a luxury item they are are fast becoming a required item for most families. They are even becoming a requirement that people look for when deciding on a new home.
One of the things to look for when you are considering walk in shower enclosures for your new remodeling project is can you make it a total part of the room, in other words does it fit into your plans? After all you don’t want to put all that money into a remodeling project and then have it turn out as something that you’re just not happy with. But if you do your homework in the planning stages you can totally avoid these problems.

1. What size should your walk in shower be? This is very important, because you don’t want a shower that is too small and looks like it is just an after thought. But then you don’t want to go the other way and have a shower that just overwhelms the entire bathroom and just looks too big. So it depends a lot on the size of your bathroom, you want a shower that stands out but at the same time it should be convenient to use.
2. Having some slope in the floor. You do not want slope in the floor as it could work against the built in slope in your shower drain pan. The drain pan, or the floor of your shower, will be built to funnel the water in the shower toward the drain. You should not have any water forming puddles in your shower floor.
3. Additional Functions. There are a lot of additional functions that you can have built into your shower area. In addition to the more common accessories such as towel racks and shower benches you could add additional shower heads for water from different angles or for different spray patterns such as the rain shower head. Another feature might be the power shower, that adds an additional water pump in case your home has low water pressure, or maybe the electric shower which incorporates an inline water heater so that you don’t run out of hot water. For the ultimate in luxury you could add a steam feature which would turn your shower into your own spa.
